Lost and Pound Updates

Thanks to Britt, Becca, and many more PCers for the latest lot! <p>I'd like to remind you all that it is unofficial Adopt a Uni month :P There are several hundred on the list, but only the most recently updated 100 show! Help them out!

I'd like to do an official welcome to Bug, newest member of the the L&P team, and latest manual-search addict. Also joining the team, though in a different way, is Maggie our new official artist! :-) One of these days soon I will update the staff/credits info to include their names, but for the now this is the best they're getting! :P

For those noticing all the BNs creeping back to the most recent pets, it's because I've been updating their names so they've got proper capitalization. There are lots of RW/WNs there as well, though I do encourage adopting BNs for labrats! :)

Thanks again for all the support, it really meant a lot! Been adding yet more names, with a big thanks to Avalon and Bug who have been finding tons of extras for me! :-) I may have a surprise in store for you sometime next week ;)

So I lied and spent more time this past week on the L&P than I expected, partly to pass the time while we were in the waiting stages. Thanks for all the well wishes, they've meant a lot to me! Now I am actually not going to update for a while, since I'll be out of town for the funeral and net access is virtually nil! Thanks again folks, you've warmed my heart!

Updates will be fairly low from me over the next week or so, due to a loss in the family. Hope you all have a great week, and I hope things will be back to normal next week!

To whoever asked us about it, yes we only show 100 names in any one species at a time (even if there are several hundred), because otherwise the site never finishes loading, and it crashes too many computers. Even with a 100 name cap I still hear about some people who are unable to access the page as it makes their browsers die painful deaths! <p>The site organizes the names displayed by the most recently added/updated pets. The petpage organizes alphabetically, so it's possible to have a slightly different selection of pets show up on either (though the petpage shows even fewer, because neopets won't allow any more than it currently shows.

Been spending a lot of time on the PC advertising the stuck pets, and just wanted to send a little shout out to all you lovely folks! You've all been delightful! <p>As you can see TONS of new pets, most of which are WN, and many of which are adopted within minutes-hours after my posting them. I've been working hard at not having a life!

Just wanted to welcome an old face back to staff! Our old friend Rikke, (zilenca) known to many of you as Monsum is back to help us manage the ginormous list!

Yeesh, you folks sure devour those WN pets quickly! Most of them have been adopted within a couple of hours of being added to the site, usually 2 days at most (though there are a few here and there that last a wee bit longer, probably because they get buried!) Don't forget BN pets make great labrats!!! They need homes too! (And we've got a good 4000+ of them!)

Updated a ton of names from Lost and Adopted lists, lots of great pets back in the pound! I also did a bit of an update to the FAQ (link at the top of the page.) I've also been running out of great new ideas of words and names to check, which is too bad, because boy did I ever find a bunch of great names for you folks! Maybe I'll find some more inspiration soon! :)

Also we really need 88x15 buttons! Thank you!

<b>Attention all graphics gurus:</b> <p>The Lost and Pound is looking for a few snazzy new graphics. Particularly in the 88x31 button size, though we wouldn't mind a few bigger ones. All graphics should say "Lost and Pound", though they can say other things as well. An idea might be some larger buttons/banners that say something along the lines of "I was found through the Lost and Pound" or similar. I am going to work on very slowly changing names of lost pets to the correct cases. It means losing the data (such as when they were originally added,) but I will at least do it with the most recently updated pets.

Went through the entire lost list and weeded out the adopteds. Gone through about half the adopted list, and will continue the rest tomorrow. Also added a whole whack of brand new great names. <p>I've added tons of painted and LEs over the last couple of days, most of which were adopted within minutes of my putting them on the site (luckily my weird hours have enabled people in all time zones to have a fair chance!) Highlights of today included a chomby, a couple of deserts, a few rarer mutants, and DARIGAN! :-)

<p>The other, newer complaint is people wishing we would have the capitalization correct for names. For this I apologize. <p>When we add names one by one, and only have 1-100 to add at a time, we do strive to make sure the names appear correctly. However, when we were adding a few thousand names over the period of a couple of weeks, we were just adding them as they'd been given to us, whether that was correct or not. <p>Unfortunately, once a name is in the system, for whatever reason, we cannot change its capitalisation. So unless we were to remove about 10,000 names and re-add them all (which would take to long to be feasible), I'm afraid you'll have to deal with what we have for the meantime <p>Thanks for your understanding!

Just finally remembering to check the email account for the first time since September *whistles innocently* (Thanks Dream) <p>The most common emails I get are people looking to add or update a pet, and people thanking and complimenting the site. After those the next most common are a few questions/complaints, so let me address a few: <p>No, we do not take requests, or mail any single person when we update the site. What you see is what you get, sorry, we all have jobs, families, and other stuff!

Well I finally got a magma usul. I pounded it and went to put it on this list and it is now red. So TNT has decided not to let us share....though I have heard you can transfer the pet & it will stay magma. Wish I had known that before. Oh well....so no magma pets here!

Wow! Just started back at the beginning of the names and y'all have really been adopting! Thanks so much & I hope you get the pretty pets you like! And I hope to get a magma pet soon to put up for adoption!

Happy Labour Day everyone, hope you've enjoyed your long weekend! <p>Apologies for lack of updates, we all get so busy sometimes! Lauren and I are making an effort to do some list updates today, as you can see by the new pets, and the old ones being cleared out! :P

Quick update: So google has now pronounced the site clean, but for some reason firefox is still trying to block access. Hopefully it's just slow to catch up *cross fingers*

Can't wait to see the beta put into place! Great changes, Thanks Anna and Arden! I just went through the list of pets and removed 300+ that were adopted. :O Nice! About 5 of them were frozen. :( Sorry I haven't been able to update the list and add more pets as regularly. I'll try when I'm not so tiiirreed! haha.

Huge apologies for the whole "attack site" warning. Quiggle.org seems to have been hacked, however we have taken the steps to fix it, and the warnings should be gone shortly. Luckily the Lost and Found seems to have remained unaffected, though we will be taking steps to ensure better security to prevent this from happening again!

Thanks Arden for allowing me on Staff, it's nice to finally be able to add the pets myself. :) For anyone wondering about pound-stuck pets, <a href="http://www.neopets.com/~primary">check here (link)</a>. I've listed the most common "stucky" letters and some other information. If anyone would like to contact me for whatever reason, you can email me at dt4l6969@gmail.com. :)<p> Now, for today I've added the sick pets from a list, and I went through the the pets and removed all the adopted pets. There were over 100 pets adopted since yesterday! Thanks to everyone who adopts, zaps/paints, and fosters these pets to new homes. :)

fixed the coding some more, now the OldWays petpage will only show 75 pets per species, while the main site will show 100. 4000+ pets and counting is just too much for any poor petpage to hold, it would seem!

Increased the number of pets show per species to 100 from 30 (not sure why the top links still max out at 30, since the actual number of pets is increasing... I'll see if I can figure that out! <p>In other news, we've got too many pets on the list to put up in petpage form, so I'm working on figuring out a way to fix that. In the meantime though I think 100 pets per species should be enough here. If you find it way too slow to load, let me know!
