When to expect a reply

We DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS, so if you ask us to send you the name of pet fitting certain parameters, your message will simply be deleted. We don’t have some magical ability to search through the 38k pets on the Lost list any faster than you do. We tag what we can to make it a bit easier to find pets, but the database isn’t currently set up to be able to sort by those tags. That ability would take a HUGE overhaul of the site that we’re not currently planning for.

Finaly if you contact us with a genuine question that needs a reply, make sure that you’ve given us a way to reply. Sending a question via the form with no username or email address attached means we can’t reply to you. If you send a username, remember your account must be over 13 in order to get a reply.

We get a lot of mails every day asking us questions to which we’ve answered publicly many many times (before asking us a question, be sure to read the FAQ, and perhaps check back posts of the blog, your question is likely answered already.)

No major news around here. We’re continuing to update the site daily, and find new pets all the time (last week I alone added 700 new pets in one evening!)

100k

2012 March 4

So we`ve passed the 100,000 pets in the database mark, by quite a bit actually! What a number! 70,000 adopted/frozen, and 30,000 waiting to be adopted! Absolutely incredible! We couldn’t have done it without all of you adopting pets, sending us the names of pets you know, and helping us clean up our list by telling us which pets you’ve noticed have been adopted, or zapped into something other than what they claim to be on the site! Thank you all!

Today also marks one week left on our Facebook Dreamies thread over on our Fan Page. We’ve managed to home about 25 pets so far, and have attempted to home another 10-15 (a lot of people had already found their dreamie after posting, OR simply never responded to our attempts to contact them!) Be sure to add your wish to the list after reading the few rules we have!

Thanks again to everyone for helping make us what we are today!

Gone away

2012 February 13

I am running away on holiday in less than an hour (to Britain! WOOOHOOO!)

The site will still be updated by all the other wonderful staff members!

I’ll still be checking the site email and forms from the road. However, if you prefer to neomail regarding pets adopted/repounded, please neomail _sme_ instead of cinderellie7, as it will be much harder to check my neomails.

Don’t forget about the dreamie wishlist over on our Facebook Fan Page. The thread will continue until after I return in March!

Have a great February folks!

Dreamies Giveaway Redux

2012 February 4

Over on the Facebook fan page we’re having another dreamie giveaway.

Go add your (zappable) wish to the list today (be sure to read the rules before posting, else your wish will likely be removed from the list. :)

In under 24 hours we’ve already homed 4 pets, and have contacted another 3 people on the list about their dream pets.

This is the one and only time we make an exception to our “no requests” rule, so take part today! (Provided things don’t get out of hand the thread will remain until early March!)

Please help me in issuing a very warm welcome back to the team to Jenn (michellejkittie) who was one of the original staff members, and is also an active member of TNO, the guild that started it all!

Welcome back to the land of the crazy people, Jenn! it’s good to have you!

New feature for the new year

2012 January 1

That’s right, you’ve asked for it, and we’ve listened:

You can now sort species views by name, rather than simply by most recently added. To access it you must view “more” pets in any species and up at the top by the species name you can switch between the two sort methods!

Big thanks to Anna for taking time out of her busy schedule to fix that up for us!

We currently have NO plans to sort by colour, I’m afraid if you’re too lazy to actually scan the most recent page(s) for the colour you’re looking for, then you’re just not going to get what you’re looking for!

For those who don’t realize, pets are already easily sorted by gender (pink for girls, blue for boys, yellow means we forgot to assign gender. OOPS!)

As for sorting by stats, age, etc, I’m afraid at the moment that’s unfeasible, as they are just handwritten notes, rather than sortable attributes, so you’ll just have to scan for any notes for the meantime. Also note that we don’t add notes to brand new pets, only when we’re updating pets, so there are TONS of pets (probably at least half the pets on the lost list) that simply haven’t had a note added, but plenty of them will have stats, will be aged, etc. We do work on adding notes, but the priority for us is adding new pets, and updating the lists to make sure those adopted get moved from the lost list, and those repounded make it back.

20,000 pets!!!

by Arden

Yes, that’s right, we have hit the 20,000 pet mark for the Lost list!

As you can tell a lot of the most recent additions have been badly named pets (in the name# format), but just prior to this spate, I had a HUGE fit of VWN pets, including English and Italian real words, a TON of real last names, and even a small handful of real first names!

Many of those RWs and RLNs are still on the site, but buried beneath the more recent terribly named pets, so I definitely recommend digging through the pet pages to get a better look of what’s available!

We have also gone way overboard in adding grundos again, I’m afraid! I guess that’s just more work for the Adopt a Grundo Project!

We also have a special holiday project going on over at the Facebook Fan Page where we are trying to match people with their zappable dream pets! So far we’ve managed to help make 6 peoples’ dreams come true, and if you’re lucky maybe we can help you find your dream too, just hop on over to the fan page and add your wish to the appropriate thread!

Happy Halloween!

2011 October 31

Happy Halloween folks!

We’re celebrating the night with special spooky pets being released on the facebook page as well as here at random! Like the page to join in on the fun pets posted there daily!

As for news on the site, there isn’t much, hence the lack of posts here. Most minor updates get posted to the facebook page though :) I have done a few little tweaks here and there, and we’ve been madly adding new pets, and updating the lost and adopted lists whenever we have a chance to attempt to keep the site as up to date as possible!

As always, keep on sending us pets you know of, or updating us on the pets you notice have been adopted or changed, we appreciate the help greatly!

Hope you’ve all had fun this Halloween, and that you stay safe and sound as well!

Sidebar errors fixed!

2011 October 9

So after much hunting, muttering, and swearing I finally figured out tonight why the sidebar didn’t work on species views, and hence why things like the feedback form did not work!

After figure it out, it simply took another 2 hours of fiddling and fixing, and now I am proud to say the sidebar works like charm, including adding in these very blog updates that weren’t being shown from the pet view previously!

Provided I have any energy left after this and my previous 7 days in a row of work (urgh) I am hoping to work on a few more details around the site to bring things up to par, but for the meantime everything essential FINALLY WORKS!!!

We need you!

2011 October 7

As you may have noticed, the site’s list of pets has been growing in leaps and bounds lately, with over 15,000 pets on the Lost list, and over 46,000 on the adopted list! This number will only keep increasing as long as we can keep finding pets faster than you guys can adopt them. Some pets have been looking for an owner for over 2 years now!!!

Here’s where you come in! We need help spreading the word about the site! Many people know about the site by now, but even more do not! Put up buttons (we have neo-friendly ones that link to the petpage, and ones for use offsite that link directly to the main site!) Put them in your blogs, share a link to us on facebook (and become a fan of our facebook page), tell your neopets friends about us!

If you zap pets for fostering/trading make sure to pick some up from here, there are always plenty of DN ones, as well as the BNs, and often there are even many WNs!
